Jack Schmidt

As long as I can remember, Art has been a driving force in my life. I thoroughly enjoy working with many different art materials and mediums as well as a variety of art styles from realism and nature to abstract, and I find inspiration for my art all around me. As a child I would ask for art supplies for Christmas and I was constantly doodling, coloring and drawing pictures. My parents, siblings, friends and teachers were all influences in my life as they always encouraged me to pursue my interests and dreams.

Eventually earning a Bachelor of Science teaching degree from Dickinson State College, Dickinson, North. Dakota with a Major in Art. Later on I continued to pursue my career earning a MFA from Mankato State University in Mankato, Minn. With a Masters degree with emphasis in painting and drawing as well as a K-12 Special Education license.

I taught Art, (and Special Ed) 43 years and now, In retirement I spend my time creating art as well as enjoying my other hobbies. I am excited to be a member of Gallery 24 and look forward to new experiences.
